Hello Soccer Families,
As most of you have seen previously on this page our Spring season has been cancelled by Soccer Maine. I'm including the message at the bottom of this email from the Executive Director of Soccer Maine. The reason for canceling was mostly logistical with fields issues as schools are closed and determining how to have less than 50 people at a game.
Our board has agreed that the easiest route it to keep your deposit and apply it towards the fall season. However, we understand there is a lot going on right now. Please email if you have financial hardships or do not plan to play in the fall in order to receive your money back.
Fall sign-ups will be opening up in the next few days. Please be on the lookout for another email in regards to fall sign ups. We are working on some potential summer play if the state guidelines allow for that as well.
President Merrymeeting Soccer Club
Hello Pine Tree Club Presidents,
I hope you are all doing well in our current reality. We are thinking about our players, families and communities every day, and continuing to work closely with local, state and national health authorities across Maine, New England and the US in an effort to stay on top of the most up-to-date guidelines.
Though our return to play date and that of US Youth Soccer remains May 15 th , we realize the challenges this will pose in moving forward this season here in Maine. While we are confident that based on the existing guidelines, some form of training could occur in small groups in May, and some play could resume in June, we see additional challenges in particular for our Pine Tree clubs. With teams of young players, it would be extremely difficult to ask parents to not attend games, and therefore difficult to keep any game under the 50 - person limit as outlined in Phase II of our State's re-opening plan . Our town clubs are also challenged by field accessibility, which in most cases, is tied to their school districts. We know that you are all trying to balance your families' needs and wants with these challenges at the same time that you are preparing for the fall season. Therefore, we have decided to close the League for this season and allow you all to move on to preparing for your fall season. We will be refunding your Pine Tree League fees.
We feel badly that we cannot provide an opportunity for your players to get out and participate in an organized sport. We know that they all really need it at this point.
